This is my 15th quilt of the year! It's based on the "What a Bunch of Squares" Denyse Schmidt patten.

How long will it be before there isn't any Mingle in every quilt I make?? A long time I think.

Ducks!

Hi Everyone!
Wanna learn how to make a quilt, start to finish? If you are in the LA area, I'm teaching another class for Home Ec. at Reform School in lovely Silver Lake. Don't you wanna learn to quilt over three summer Wednesday evenings? I hope so because I want to teach you!
Check it out and sign up here. I would love to see you there!
The quilt that I made with all of the women involved in Block Party, a virtual quilting bee, is finished and it's beautiful!
Each and every block in this quilt is perfect.
Right?? I'm so lucky this is mine.
If you click through to this photo on flickr, you can see a collage with a photo of each block and link to who made them. That's one batch of seriously talented ladies! I'm thrilled to be doing this bee with all of them.
Here's the pieced back I put together based on all the fabric I had left.
Permit me to show you some more pretty pictures of it!
I genuinely love this quilt so much and the fact that it was made with help from so many of the wonderful people I've gotten to know though this amazing online quilting/blogging community makes me love it even more.
It measures 75" x 75" and it's going to live with me on my couch. All the time. Have I mentioned that I love it??
Put together this little baby boy quilt top based on Denyse Schmidt's What a Bunch of Squares quilt. It's a gift for family friends.
Fun to be working with a small quilt again after my bigger Block Party one. Speaking of, I'm mere stitches on the binding away from finishing it! Can't wait for you to all see it done!
I'm in love with my Block Party quilt! The top is all finished...
...and I've been quilting away.
I should be done soon!
Clearly I'm not the most creative at coming up with quilt names... oh well - I guess this says it all!
All finished! I love it. Love love love it. I think it's so youthful and funky and just fun!
For the back I did a simple strip of patchwork - mostly solids with a pop of pattern! The patterned fabric is the circles from Mingle. Man am I ever obsessed with those right now... I think I bought them in every colorway!
And the chocolate brown binding adds a nice frame to it.
It's listed in my shop!
Been working on these blocks for a long time and they are finally all done and sashed in my usual white.
I'm excited to see this one come together. I'll hopefully make real progress this weekend!
Recently got some of these Jay McCarroll birds. Don't know why I hadn't bought any before. They are so weird and I love them.
Have a great weekend everyone!
A quick note for my LA based readers... I'm teaching a patchwork pillow class for Home Ec. at Reform School on June 22nd, this coming Monday evening. Maybe you're interested? Check out more details or sign up here! We'll be making log cabin blocks and chatting about improvisationally piecing them. And then we'll turn them into a pretty pillow!
I would love to see you there!
Is what my weekend sewing was filled with! I pulled fabrics for a new quilt. I've decided to completely indulge my love of red & aqua. I haven't made a full quilt in only those colors before, so it's time!
Then I got started on some blocks!
I got a fat quarter of the amazing Paint By Number Birds in a swap with Ashley and have already cut into it!
I am not a fabric horder. Ok, if you saw my stash right now you'd probably disagree 'cause it's big. But now that my job is over, I'm back on the buying ban ("except solids and batting!" - a phrase my husband hears over and over!) and I am gonna use my stash like crazy. Sometimes once it's gone I miss an out of print fabric, but mostly if I use a fabric in a number of quilts, usually I feel like I've had my time with it. And plus, there's always so much new fabric to focus on!!
Anyhow - otherwise, this weekend I made the back for my Block Party quilt. Still waiting on two last blocks but am gonna put this baby together the second I get 'em!
And lastly I caught up on my last due bee block! This one is for Sew Connected 2.
Hope that you all have great weeks. I know that I will since unemployment is back and that means sewing sewing sewing sewing and a bit more... well... sewing!
Sunny fabric!
And amazingly generous friends!
Elizabeth sent me some Heather Ross fabrics for no reason other than that she's just so so nice!!
And the last thing that makes me happy? Friday! It's Friday! Today is my last day on my latest job (I'm freelance) and I feel like school's out for summer! Wheee! Hope that you all have wonderful weekends!
Sew, Mama, Sew! posted a little interview with me about my sewing machine. Check it out!
I don't have a fancy machine, but she's served me right!
Recently got almost all caught up on my bee blocks! I do so enjoy the process of being in bees. Small projects! Blocks for Ashley for Block Party - she's not going to use sashing when she assembles the blocks, so I hope the white and pink frame works!
Carol's blocks for 12 Squared:
And the block for Amanda and Sew Connected 2.
I finished up the super girly baby quilt. I love it!
That photo isn't so great but you can see the design... Here's one with colors that are truer...
It's been so long since I've finished a quilt. This little one makes me happy!
The back with a bit more of the amazing Far, Far Away... so cute!
I usually go with a solid binding, but I occasionally like a small scale print one... I think this one came out well!
Happy Monday everyone! For me, this is the last week on my job... I will miss the paychecks but I can't wait for all of the soon to arrive sewing time!
I didn't buy any fabric at all on my trip. But I DID do some more shoppin' on my computer and this turned up!
Yes - I do realize that I used to blog about sewing and not just show you stacks of pretty fabric. Sorry about that. It will change soon!
Ribbit.
Meanwhile, I had joined in on Chaletgirl's vintage sheet swap and check out what I got back. I scored!
I can't wait to sew tons of quilts with all of this new fabric!
Finally! I've so missed blogging and sewing and all of you! Between the work trip and the job in general, I've not had a second to sit in front my sewing machine in almost three weeks. But this weekend we were reunited! I have other projects going that I should have worked on, but I allowed myself to just have fun. I made some super girly quilt blocks.
And it lead to a girly baby quilt top!
Can't wait to make the back, get it sandwiched, and quilt it. Oh it's been so long since I've finished a quilt!!
That's what this blog will be until later this month! I'm leaving town later today for a bit and I know there will be no sewing done meanwhile. Fabric shopping might be a different story... Something that there's been no lack of around here recently.
Even managed to nab one yard of the precious latest Heather Ross.
And while my friends and family know and love me, it's only you, my bloggyland friends who really "get" my fabric cravings. Proof: In an astonishingly kind gesture, Amanda Jean put a little birthday gift in the mail to me.
Yes. That's right. You are seeing what you are seeing. VW Vans!!! A fat quarter of each and I couldn't have been more thrilled. I was all out and you all know just how hard it is to get your hands on this stuff these days! I've decided that I'm not cutting into until I'm making a baby quilt for MY baby. Who know when that will be, but the buses are going untouched until then! Thanks Amanda Jean!!
Meanwhile, I'm slowly, occasionally, adding a block to the wall.
Oh hi.
Back in a couple of weeks...!
Only had time to get a couple of blocks done this weekend. Spent most of the weekend shopping as working on a show like Project Runway will make you paranoid about your outfit!! The blocks for the first month of the 12 Squared bee.
It was so much fun to work with these bright and vibrant colors.
On a different note - my job takes me to Seattle later this week and then I head to NYC. I know I want to hit up Purl Soho, but anyone have any other recommendations of fabric or other fun stores that I can't miss out on while I'm in either city??
A quick post to mention that I'm going to be teaching another class for Home Ec. at Reform School! It's a one night class on how to make a patchwork pillow sleeve! First we'll improvisationally piece a wonky log cabin block and then we'll turn it into a pillow sleeve. All on the evening of Thursday May 28th.
Should be fun! Click over here and scroll down through all of their amazing classes (I might need to take the glass beads one!!) to sign up!
