I said I was gonna dive back into the red & aqua quilt but I couldn't bring myself to sew another wonky log cabin block. I know! I was shocked too! I've actually hit my limit. I'm sure not for long - I'm certain to be back to my beloved soon enough but meanwhile I've been seeing these half hex quilts all over the place and I've been wanting to futz with one. I struggle with finding most traditional quilt patterns too "old fashion-y", but that's part of the challenge right? How do you take something tradition and modern it up? That sentiment, plus my love of white space led me to this!
I technically did it "wrong." The rows of hexs are not matched up, but I like the look. It was fun to mess with all those little cut out peices until I found the layout I liked best.
You can find the info to get the template here.
I'm really excited to get quilting on this one. I think I'm gonna try something new! Can you tell I'm trying to break out of my stippled log cabin quilt rut??
Have a great weekend everyone!
